Svante Lidén worked at Aftonbladet for 30 years.

He wrote for most of the magazine's various sections and made himself known, among other things, for the personal tone that often appeared in his texts.

He is also described as a generous and helpful mentor to many younger journalistic colleagues.

Even after his retirement in 2019, Lidén continued to participate in Aftonbladet as a columnist, something he did until he fell ill with covid-19 at the end of December last year.

The loss and grief are enormous.

Journalists like Svante are no longer made.

Everyone loved Svante.

How could you not do it ", writes colleague Urban Andersson in the newspaper Journalisten.

Andersson also describes how Lidén a few years ago had succeeded in getting King Carl XVI Gustav to hoist the three-pointed war flag at the castle on the morning of National Day.

However, Lidén broke his thumb the day before the meeting and Aftonbladet tried to send another reporter.

The king's answer?

"If Svante does not come, there will be nothing."

Svante Lidén turned 68 years old.
