Gérald Darmanin announced this Saturday that he had suspended the police commissioner for the district of Plaisir (Yvelines) after sending a controversial greeting card.

On this card is a picture of a policeman near his car speaking to a black man, "Come closer.

My taser reloads on the cigarette lighter ”, and a caption:“ the commissioner and the police officers of the public security district of Plaisir wish you a happy new year 2021 ”.

"As soon as I learned of this" greeting card ", the General Inspectorate of the National Police was seized and has already heard this commissioner (Friday).

I suspended it as a precaution, ”tweeted the Minister of the Interior.

This drawing "shocked many people for its racist connotation", commented the entourage of the Minister of the Interior.

As soon as I learned of this "greeting card", the General Inspectorate of the National Police was seized and already heard this commissioner yesterday.

I suspended it as a precaution.

"An outcry internally"

According to a Yvelines union source, the greeting card caused "an internal outcry" within the Plaisir police station, with officials shocked to be associated with this card.

“It's misunderstanding.

It discredits the entire police station, ”added this source.

Contacted, the commissioner did not wish to answer questions.

The police have been shaken in recent months by several cases mixing police violence and accusations of racism, including the beating of music producer Michel Zecler and the controversial evacuation of a migrant camp at Place de la République in Paris.
