The national protocol against the coronavirus in companies, posted online Thursday evening, indicates that employers will be able to offer volunteer employees rapid screening tests.

They must be financed by the employer and carried out under conditions guaranteeing "the strict preservation of medical confidentiality".

Employers will be able to offer volunteer employees rapid screening tests for Covid-19, while respecting medical confidentiality.

This is indicated by the new version of the national protocol in companies, posted online Thursday evening.

The result not communicated to the employer

The text intended to ensure the health and safety of employees in the face of the epidemic indicates that "beyond the screening campaigns organized by the health authorities and in which companies can participate, employers can, in compliance with regulatory conditions , offer those of their employees who are volunteers, screening actions ".

"These screening actions must be fully funded by the employer and carried out under conditions guaranteeing the proper performance of these tests and the strict preservation of medical confidentiality", specifies the protocol, which adds that "no results can be communicated to the employer ".

Antigenic tests, not serology

The Minister of Labor, Élisabeth Borne, spoke Thursday evening on LCI about this rule change "to allow companies, which have, for a certain number actually made this request, to carry out tests within the company".

"If we can allow companies to do these tests, it is because we have the new tests, the famous antigenic tests, which do not require going through a biology laboratory" that we should not "saturate" , she clarified.

Antigenic tests allow a result to be obtained in 15 to 30 minutes compared to several days for PCR tests.

The protocol specifies, however, that with regard to serological tests, which make it possible to detect whether the patient has developed antibodies, the indications defined by the health authorities at this stage do not allow companies to consider testing campaigns. .
