Nara Shosoin Exhibition Begins 59 treasure exhibitions including 4 for the first time exhibited October 24, 20:05

The "Shosoin Exhibition", a collection of treasures related to Emperor Shomu in the Nara period, began on the 24th in Nara City.

The Shosoin Exhibition is an annual autumn event to showcase the treasures of Shosoin in Nara City, and 59 treasures are exhibited, including 4 for the first time.

Of these, the fossil of elephant teeth, "Goshikiryushi," was delivered to Todaiji Temple by Emperor Shomu's Kisaki and Empress Komyō. It was used as a Chinese herbal medicine.

In addition, the rug "Kasen", which is made of wool and has a length of more than 2 meters, is believed to have been used in the memorial service of Todaiji Temple, and has a circular flower pattern.

The visitors were carefully watching each exhibition.

A woman in her 60s in Osaka said, "I was surprised that the felt rug remained in the beautiful color of the time. I come every year, but I never get tired of watching it."

In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, this day's ticket is not sold, and an advance ticket with a specified date and time is required, but it is almost sold out.

The "72nd Shosoin Exhibition" will be held at the Nara National Museum until the 9th of next month.
