At the microphone of Europe 1, Bruno Lina, member of the Scientific Council, explains that the cooling of temperatures favors the rebound of the epidemic.

In this configuration, "the efforts and the breaks in the transmission chain that could be made during the period when the weather was fine, are not sufficient", he adds.

The figures are dizzying, and cause concern among citizens and health professionals alike.

Despite new measures put in place for several weeks, and despite the application by the vast majority of French people of barrier gestures, the coronavirus epidemic continues to grow.

“One of the hypotheses that we discuss a lot within the Scientific Council is the impact of temperature”, he confirms at the microphone of Europe 1. “The problem we have in France is everywhere in Europe and throughout the northern hemisphere, "he continues.

Now, "what is happening in the northern hemisphere? We are entering the period of late autumn and early winter".

"We need to be even more vigilant"

"We had identified this period as a crucial period," said the guest from Europe 1. But until now, "we were not able to really understand the impact it would have since we had never had a winter with this virus in the northern hemisphere ".

And to add: "we are seeing that the temperature a little cool (...) favors the retransmission".
