  • If you scan the trends on YouTube, you couldn't miss Michou, the new web phenomenon.

  • The 19-year-old has millions of views and already has more than 4.5 million subscribers.

  • On the occasion of his birthday, the youtubeur released an EP of seven tracks, ranked among the most viral of the moment.

To meet the star of YouTube, the one who explodes all the counters this year, the appointment is given to us in Levallois-Perret, at the headquarters of Webedia.

In front of the premises, a dozen preadolescents wait patiently and try to occupy the time.

As they are asked what they are doing here, Michou's name is instantly heard.

"I come so often that Michou recognizes me now", slips one of them.

Despite their pleas, it was impossible to give them information on their idol's schedule.

"Where are all these people coming from?"

"

Yet he is right next to them, a few meters from them, in his studio.

Michou welcomes us, all smiles, and makes us discover his universe.

, sneakers, his YouTuber trophies, all his passions are displayed on the walls.

When we talk about the young people who are waiting for him at the exit of the offices, the YouTuber admits that it surprises him.

“Sometimes I end a three-hour live, I leave Webedia at 11pm and there are people in front,” he says, his eyes wide.

These few teenagers who follow him everywhere are actually just a drop in the face of the growing numbers on his YouTube channel.

A year ago, Michou reached the threshold of three million subscribers.

There will be two million more by the end of 2020. “When I see how the numbers are changing, I wonder why there are still plenty of people subscribing.

Where are all these people coming from?

He laughs.

YouTube alongside college

Success is unexpected for this young man, aged just 19, from Albert, in the north of France.

He who grew up with Squeezie, Norman and Cyprien dreamed of being able to dominate YouTube trends in his turn.

His beginnings, shot with his phone in his room, were a little hesitant.

Normal when you're 13.

In 2015, his big brother took matters into his own hands: creation of a new channel (the one we know today), training in editing, more sustained publication rate.

All this in his free time, outside of school hours.

Michou began by specializing in video games, first on

Clash Royale

, which gave him a little notoriety.

But it is with

Fortnite

that his channel takes an unprecedented scale.

“It all happened suddenly,” the YouTuber is still surprised.

After the surprise of success, the hardest turn had to take place, "to get out of the

Fortnite

bubble

to be able to do anything."

»Successful bet for the one who has just released a musical EP.

An unexpected craze for his music

On August 7, Michou surprised his subscribers with the publication of a clip that smells like summer with yacht and bodies intertwined as if the barrier gestures were only an illusion.

Quickly, the millions of views begin to scroll before the eyes of the new singer.

"I was expecting a little craze because I thought it was my first clip but I didn't think there was going to be that many," he says.

And suddenly, his title breaks the barriers between YouTube and television by being launched in

Touche pas à mon poste

by Cyril Hanouna.

The phenomenon takes on another dimension.

In the club

was in fact only the beginnings of a much more important project for the youtubeur: the release of his EP, composed of seven titles, on the occasion of his nineteenth birthday.

He talks about his life, his fame, and also evokes his links with his family, extremely important to him, and to whom he pays homage in

Fier

.

“Sometimes I'm even a little sick of having too much work.

I can not go see them and I have the seum, I blame myself a little, I have the impression that it cuts the relationship ”, he regrets.

Despite the successive shoots, Michou (whose real name is Miguel Mattioli) ensures that he does everything in his power to return to his homelands as soon as he has the opportunity.

Transmission as a mission

After success comes responsibilities.

Those questioned by the parents of its subscribers, for example.

"There are some who tell me: 'be careful, try to say a little less swear words in your videos," "he says.

For the moment, no particular weight seems to weigh on his shoulders but Michou wishes to transmit “the good values for the little ones who [watch him].

"

The videographer, who is now part of the top 30 of the most popular French YouTubers in the country, has only one desire: "to keep breaking everything and doing my best."

For that, Michou dreams of winning a gold record.

“But it's complicated,” he tempers.

Wasn't that what he said to himself seven years ago when he landed on YouTube?
