Ambulance Highway entrance mistake 16 minutes late Patient died the next day Tokyo Fire Department October 12, 21:08

It was discovered that an ambulance from the Tokyo Fire Department made a mistake at the entrance to the highway when transporting a patient in his 70s and arrived at the destination hospital about 16 minutes late.

The patient died the next day, and the Tokyo Fire Department will examine the relationship with late arrivals.

According to the Tokyo Fire Department, an ambulance dispatched from the Hatanodai branch office of the Ebara Fire Department before 11:00 pm on the 7th of this month carried a male patient in his 70s from a hospital in Shinagawa Ward to a hospital in Koto Ward.

At that time, an ambulance worker made a mistake at the entrance to the highway, forcing him to detour nearly 18 kilometers from the shortest route.

As a result, it took about 50 minutes to arrive at the hospital in Koto Ward, which was about 16 minutes behind the shortest route.

The patient's man was clearly conscious when he left, but his condition deteriorated due to vomiting blood about 5 minutes before arriving at the hospital in Koto Ward, and he died at the hospital the next day.

The Tokyo Fire Department will examine the cause of the ambulance crew's mistaken transportation route and the relationship between the death of a man and the delay in arrival.

The Tokyo Fire Department commented, "We sincerely apologize for damaging the trust of the bereaved families and the people of Tokyo. We will do our best to prevent recurrence so that this will never happen again."
