Eight students from the IUT of Saint-Brieuc were diagnosed positive for the coronavirus, the prefecture of Côtes d'Armor said in a press release.

A report was sent to the Regional Health Agency on Tuesday, confirming that a student from the IUT had contracted Covid-19.

Seven more cases have since been confirmed.

These eight people and their risky contact cases were placed in solitary confinement for seven days.

The investigation carried out by the health authorities established that the contamination had taken place during a student party organized on Thursday, October 1 in a bar in the city.

About fifty people were said to have taken part and the barrier gestures were not respected.

The prefect ordered the temporary closure of the establishment.

Investigations are continuing to identify risky contacts around these confirmed cases.

An information letter was sent to all the students.

The ARS took the opportunity to recall that it invites students to “greatly reduce their social interactions” and “not to participate in festive events”.
