Coronavirus: more than 8,000 new cases in 24 hours -

In the past 24 hours, France has recorded 8,051 new additional Covid-19 cases, according to figures from Public Health France published on Tuesday.

The test positivity rate continues to increase, to 7.6%, against around 4% in early September.

59 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

Still according to Public Health France, 59 people have died in the last 24 hours and 1,265 cases of grouped contamination, or "clusters", are being investigated, including 244 in nursing homes.

More than 800 new coronavirus patients have been placed in intensive care in one week, including 165 in the last 24 hours.

In one week, 3,984 new patients were hospitalized, including 698 new patients in the last 24 hours.

The epidemic has killed at least 31,893 people in France.
