The most active radar in France surprises even regulars

Located just before the Vence Cagnes-sur-Mer exit, in the direction of Nice to Cannes, this radar flashes more than 500 times a day.

When it is not congested by traffic, the portion of the A8 motorway between Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Cagnes-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes) is the road section where the most motorists (and motards) are flashed for speeding in France.

There are hundreds of drivers who get trapped, or rather surprised at speeding, every day.

Last year, this automatic radar bolted a few hundred meters before exit 48 Vence Cagnes-sur-Mer was triggered 205,510 times.

An absolute record at the national level, but also an exceptional performance compared to the rest of the list established by the national interministerial road safety observatory: the second flashed 20% less infringement.

And yet, a sign warns of its presence and local drivers know it very, very well.
