A prominent medical figure in France warned yesterday that the country will face an outbreak of Corona virus that will last for months, and its health system will be exhausted if nothing changes.
"The second wave is coming faster than we thought," Patrick Poet, head of the National Committee of the Medical Syndicate, told the newspaper "Le Journal du Dimanche".
And facing the new measures imposed in France to limit the spread of the virus in the most affected regions, including the cities of Marseille and Paris, popular protests.
Boet added to the newspaper that the warnings issued by Health Minister Olivier Ferrand this week were not sufficient.
"He did not say that within three to four weeks, if nothing changes, France will face a massive outbreak in all its regions during the winter and fall seasons."
He warned that there would be no medical staff available to provide reinforcements, and the health system in France would not be able to meet all demands.
He added that the health workers responsible for the "miracle" of spring will not be able to fill these gaps, expecting that "many of them will be in a state of exhaustion and shock."
France recorded more than 14,000 new infections with the new Corona virus within 24 hours, a slight decrease from the outcome of the past 48 hours, but the rate of positive examinations continues to rise, according to data published by the Public Health Corporation on Saturday.
At least 31,000 people have died in France as a result of "Covid-19".
