[Explanation] Wang Guanghua, 56 years old this year, is a switchman at Ganhe Industrial Station in Xining Depot of Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Wang Guanghua and other switchmen have been engaged in the conversion and maintenance of 18 sets of turnouts on 9 special lines in the station all year round. Every day, nearly 500 trucks and more than 10 shunting machines pass on the turnouts they are responsible for.

My job is to prepare the route for shunting operation and the route of receiving and dispatching by turning the switch. Another job is to maintain the switch, and to ensure the normal operation of the equipment through daily maintenance of the switch.

[Explanation] Wang Guanghua in front of the camera skillfully unlocks the turnout, pushes the lever to move the turnout, confirms that the turnout is switched to the correct position, locks it, waved the signal flag toward the train, and restored the turnout to the original position after the train passed the turnout area. lock.

This is such a set of actions, Wang Guanghua has repeated more than 30,000 times during his ten years of working on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Because we work on the plateau, the temperature difference between day and night is relatively large, and it also has some effects on the equipment. The second is that the ultraviolet rays are relatively strong, and the third is because of the lack of oxygen at the plateau, so there may be some physical effects. You are like pulling a switch. (Yes) A little job with heavier physical strength will affect physical strength.

[Explanation] Wang Guanghua said that as a highland switcher, wind and sun, and white nights are all "common meals". The most difficult thing is to work at night in rainy and snowy weather. The rain and snow slaps on his face and he can hardly open his eyes. Make sure that the rails are seamlessly connected every time you switch.

This Ganhe Industrial Station is in a microclimate environment surrounded by mountains. There is a lot of rain and snow and a lot of snow, which will have a certain impact on the equipment. There will be certain work difficulties when we maintain the equipment, but we Will overcome it in the work.

[Explanation] Nowadays, most of the railway switches on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway have gradually changed from manual switches to remote-controlled electric switch machines. Wang Guanghua has also become the last group of switchers on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

At present, the Ganhe Industrial Station where Wang Guanghua is located is also about to undergo automation transformation. Switching the track will become history, and the "track changing division" will no longer exist.

Replacing manpower by intelligence is a development direction of railways. It is said that our industry has been replaced by intelligence. We don’t need switchers like us. We have to transfer to other jobs. Of course, we should also work hard to learn new skills. To do a new job.

[Explanation] It is understood that so far there are only 26 switchmen on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, 19 of whom are in Ganhe Industrial Station. They will all be transferred within one or two years, ending their switch careers and embarking on new jobs.

In the face of change, Wang Guanghua said that they will continue to work hard like they learned to switch for the first time.
