Recently, news came from the sea on the east side of the former Beiyang Naval Base on Liugong Island in Weihai Bay, Shandong, that the underwater archaeological team at the Dingyuan ship site successfully lifted a piece of Dingyuan ship’s armor out of the water.

The iron armor is a single piece, weighing about 18 tons, and is the key evidence of the identity of the Dingyuan iron armor.

After more than 10 hours of dredging, cable threading, and hoisting, the archaeologists finally successfully lifted this piece of Dingyuan ship armor out of the water, allowing the world to witness the true appearance of the armor again.
