The reporter learned from the review and summary meeting of the first anniversary of 5G network co-construction and sharing of China Telecom and China Unicom held in Beijing today (September 9) that China Telecom and China Unicom have implemented 5G co-construction and sharing for one year, and the two sides have cumulatively opened 5G With more than 300,000 base stations, preliminary estimates will save the two companies more than 60 billion yuan in construction investment, and basically achieve the goal of quickly forming 5G network coverage in the shortest time and with the least investment.
China Telecom and China Unicom previously planned to strive to achieve the basic network capabilities of 5G independent network commercialization by September 30 this year.
At present, the 5G network coverage of both parties has expanded to all prefecture-level and above cities in the country, and achieved the world's first peak rate of 2.7Gbps under 200M bandwidth.
The outdoor coverage rate of Beijing Fifth Ring Road has exceeded 95%, and the average download rate has exceeded 450Mbps.
According to reports, in the fourth quarter of this year, the two parties may add 50,000 5G base stations.
