The events sector in Dubai has recently witnessed a gradual return with the launch of a number of concerts and performances for a group of Arab, regional and international artists, which calls for optimism to resume activity and shed this important sector, which is a fundamental pillar of the tourism potentials that the city enjoys, and contributes to the growth of the economy .

The successful management of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) contributed to the resumption of the events sector in Dubai, which led to the gradual return of events and entertainment activities, especially with the launch of the "Dubai Summer Surprises", and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (Dubai Tourism) allowing event organizers to host live shows and events. .

Dubai has seen great success during the summer season.

Varied experiences

The Executive Director of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Corporation, Ahmed Al Khaja, said: “Dubai provides its visitors with many diverse experiences, while the events are an essential component of the tourism strategy, inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, To ensure the strengthening of Dubai's position to become the preferred city to visit in the world ».

He added: “Dubai has a long history of hosting entertainment events, which include distinguished musicians and artists, who have made the city an important stop on their international tours over the past years, and we are enthusiastic as we are witnessing the resumption of live events, and its hosting of prominent stars and artists from around the world. "Which contributes to strengthening Dubai's position as a safe and distinctive destination for international events. Dubai Tourism is keen on constant communication and continuous cooperation with its partners, to maintain the momentum of the events sector, as we prepare to meet the various requirements of visitors, and we are heading towards the full opening of the tourism sector."

Comedy shows

The international comedian, Jimmy Carr, made his first show in the United Arab Emirates, and achieved great success, as he managed to draw a smile on the faces of the public in Dubai through his performance of three consecutive shows whose tickets were completely sold out.

Jimmy Carr said, "The three shows that I presented and their tickets were completely exhausted, during (Dubai Summer Surprises), were wonderful and enjoyable. There is no doubt that Dubai is an open city. I enjoyed my first experience in presenting this show in Dubai, and I hope to return again very soon."

Laughter Factory, the long-standing comedy club that has been presenting its shows for a long time in Dubai, contributed to re-energizing and revitalizing the events and entertainment sector in the city, through nine shows that included six of the best British talent in the world of comedy.

Every month, the club attracts an elite of comedians to present their special shows, and last July witnessed the holding of shows for the best funny characters in Dublin, namely Danny O'Brien, Nick Page, comedian Peter Flanagan, columnist for Irish Times, and the Scottish comedian Leo Kears and Eddie Brimson, they show in Dubai, and this is the first time that Brimson, one of Britain's most famous comedians, has performed in Dubai.

On August 21, Emirati artist Ali Al-Sayed and Mina Lissoni presented "Stand Up Comedy" at the Dubai Opera, as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises activities.

August also saw concerts for Mohammed Assaf and Saif Nabil, who performed live on August 20, while Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam dazzled audiences with a live concert on August 21 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Earlier, Dubai hosted many live events, including the Tomorrowland Festival around the world, making it the only place in the world that offers the event to the public directly, and the first in the UAE with a commitment to social distancing.

Lovers of Arabic songs also enjoyed the distinctive concerts of the Emirati artist, Hussein Al Jasmi, and the artist Yara at the «Dubai Opera». Lovers of original art were also able to attend the hologram concert of the East Planet Umm Kulthum in Dubai Opera as well.

Initiatives events

Since Dubai resumed receiving tourists, on the seventh of last July, several sectors, including tourism, retail and events, have launched many initiatives, to move forward towards a gradual return to normal life, with an emphasis that health and safety are top priorities.

Dubai has released the "Dubai Guarantee" seal to ensure that tourism and commercial establishments, including hotels, retail stores, restaurants and tourist destinations, comply with all public health protocols to prevent the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), and properly manage this crisis.

The launch of this stamp coincides with Dubai obtaining the Safe Travel Seal from the World Travel and Tourism Council, which confirms the accuracy of its health, safety, cleaning and sterilization protocols.
