In his most recent exhibition, the Egyptian poet and artist Magdy Naguib immerses his brush in the folklore, and draws inspiration from his vocabulary to come out to the recipient with lyrical music that overflows with vitality and brightness.

Naguib (84 years), known as "the poet of colors", opened his latest exhibition of his works at the Cordoba Gallery in Cairo, the day before yesterday, in which he presents about 30 oil paintings of various sizes that reflect his rich artistic experience.

The opening was attended by a number of artists, media professionals and public figures, including the musician Hani Shenouda, the singer Anushka, the actor Sabri Fawaz, the broadcaster Jamal Al-Shaer, and Father Boutros Daniel, head of the Catholic Center for Cinema.

Naguib Bahjeh's paintings radiate clear colors of red, green, blue and yellow, and her personalities come to life through individual and collective formations of characters inspired by the Egyptian heritage and popular biographies, some of them riding a horse and holding a sword, and others playing musical instruments such as the oud and the tambourine.

Regarding the artist's works, the director of the Cordoba Gallery, Muhammad al-Jabali, said: “Magdy Naguib penetrated into the Egyptian heritage and was able to express the popular heritage in his works in a strong way, whether Islamic, Coptic or Pharaonic art, and he drew from it and produced a style of its own that depends on the originality found in Inherited and contemporary through modernist plastic treatments, with very different and distinct colors.

He added, "Majdi Naguib's plastic works also include musical instruments, in which we find musicians, musicians, dancers and dancers, in a clear complementarity between his plastic and lyrical creativity, which gives this exhibition a special and distinct character."

Parallel to his plastic experience, Naguib has a fruitful poetic journey that included many collections, such as “Sahad Al-Shita”, “Mayan”, and “The Wills”.

His poems are sung by major singers such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Shadia, Fayza Ahmed, Hani Shaker and Muhammad Mounir.
