The American streaming platform HBO Max has indeed announced that it will broadcast a special program
The Prince of Bel-Air
on the occasion of the 30 years of the series.
The entire cast of the series will meet on a set to discuss the series, its impact on pop culture, and the best moments shared behind the scenes.
Will Smith will obviously be there, as will the actors who played Carlton, Hilary and Ashley Banks, Will's cousins.
The only major absentee, James Avery, aka Uncle Phil, died in 2013.
This special is reminiscent of another: the one devoted to the return of
Friends
, announced for more than six months but postponed because of covid-19.
Hopefully the 30th anniversary party for
Le Prince de Bel-Air will
come sooner.
Will Smith on the maneuver
Fans of the cult series might find this return for one night a little frustrating.
But good news: a reboot project is in the works.
And it is Will Smith himself who is in charge.
After a first announcement in 2015, the actor is currently making the rounds of broadcasters to sell an original project: a less comic and darker version of the sitcom, inspired by a fake trailer shot by a fan of the
Prince of Bel- Air.
