On August 19, 1945, British musician Ian Gillan was born in the London borough of Hounslow. He gained worldwide fame as the voice of the classic line-up of the rock group Deep Purple, as well as the first performer of the Christ role in the rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber "Jesus Christ Superstar".
