An iron bar piercing the skull of an infant in China

The medical team in a hospital in Jinan, Shandong Province, east China, rescued a one-year-old baby after an iron bar penetrated his skull, according to the British newspaper "Daily Mail".

The newspaper added that the infant's condition is stable after he was about to die, after an hour-long surgery to remove the penis from his head.

The infant was playing in the yard of his home when he suddenly slipped, and unfortunately for him, he fell on a prominent iron bar that inserted into his skull.

The father tried to save his child, so he was only able to cut the penis with pliers, and immediately took him to the hospital.

After the infant's head was subjected to an X-ray examination, it was found that a large portion of the bronchi is stable in the skull and is only a few millimeters away from the blood vessels at the base of the brain.

Dr. Wang Guangning, director of neurosurgery at the city's children's hospital, said the child was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital and had a fever.

But he added, "After removing the metal rod, the infant's condition improved," and the doctor described it as stable.
