It is Congo's turn to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its independence. During its existence, the country knew the Single Party, then the multiparty system before a major economic boom.

All with a form of continuity since in Brazzaville, it is the current President Denis Sassou Nguesso who has served as Head of State for more than 35 years in total to date.
