Faced with the increase in Covid-19 contaminations in France, Emmanuel Macron announces the holding of a new Defense Council next week and new measures could be published. Regarding the start of the school year, the government has already finalized its recommendations. Universities will be able to reopen their doors in September and the school health protocol has just been revealed. The rules are relaxed for September 1, to allow all students to return to class.

The great novelty of this health protocol is the end of physical distancing in classrooms, in the library and in all other enclosed spaces. However, schools should organize themselves in such a way as to maintain the greatest possible distance between the pupils. Likewise, the restriction of mixing between classes and groups of pupils is no longer compulsory.
Two new rules
In return for these relaxations, the mask will be compulsory for students over 11 years old in classrooms, as well as outside. Clearly, all students from the sixth year will now have to cover their airways. In this new health protocol, two new rules should be noted: wearing a mask is no longer compulsory for kindergarten teachers and access to games, benches and outdoor collective spaces will again be authorized. Until now, all these structures were blocked and inaccessible to children.

There is still an unknown for the start of the school year: the new health protocol does not specify in which arrangements the meals will be taken in the canteen. Lunch time is however problematic: middle and high school students will remove their masks without the distance of one meter being necessarily possible.
