Since the news that the e-commerce company Amazon will launch a Swedish version of its site, it has been discussed how it will affect the smaller bookstores. Kulturnyheterna has spoken to three private booksellers in Stockholm. They are not intimidated by competition. - I do not think it will affect us at all, but the other online bookcases, they are probably scared, says Nicklas Björkholm at Hedengren's bookstore
The cultural news has been at Aspudden's bookstore, Hedengrens and The English bookshop in Stockholm, three bookstores that have had to deal with competition from Swedish e-retailers for several years.
The online bookstore went about the physical bookstore already in 2012, so Christer Valdeson at The English Bookshop feels prepared for the competition from Amazon.
- There will be room for both us and for Amazon in Sweden.
