In 2017, and at only 20 years old, Jake Paul had bought a mansion on the heights of Los Angeles worth 7.65 million euros. Three years later, his villa again arouses the attention of the media, but also of the FBI. This Wednesday, agents of the Federal Judicial Police Service raided the Californian home of the famous YouTuber, which is under investigation, said his lawyer.

"A search warrant was executed at Jake's home in Calabasas this morning while [he] was out of state," his lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, told AFP. After several hours of searches at the villa of the 23-year-old celebrity, firearms were seized by authorities, according to US media images.

No arrests took place

Jake Paul, who has more than 20 million YouTube subscribers, recently appeared on a video at a vandalized shopping mall in Arizona during the anti-racism protests that took place in May. He is accused of illegal trespassing and prohibited assembly, but denies committing any wrongdoing. A federal criminal investigation has been opened.

As part of this investigation, searches were carried out in California and Las Vegas in Nevada but no arrests took place, said an FBI spokeswoman. The YouTube star's lawyer assured Jake Paul “will cooperate with the investigation. "

A huge party in the middle of a pandemic last month

The young man, who has tried rap and professional boxing in particular, had already been at the heart of a controversy last month for having organized a huge party in his villa in Calabasas, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2018, his brother Logan Paul, 22 million subscribers on YouTube, had meanwhile triggered the ire of Internet users by posting a video showing a man who had committed suicide by hanging, in Japan.
