More than 14,000 French employees and Amazon partners “who were at the forefront of the logistics chain” during the coronavirus epidemic, will receive an exceptional bonus of 500 to 1,000 euros, the group announced.

Its payment "is made on the basis of the mechanisms proposed by the government and aims to recognize the remarkable commitment of all our operational teams, who have been on the front line for clients during the global crisis (...) whether it is logistics operations agents who prepare orders at our sites as partners who deliver orders to the customer, ”Amazon said in a statement.

2,354 temporary workers concerned

The bonus will be awarded to “8,380 employees in distribution centers, sorting centers and French delivery agencies. 2,354 temporary workers are also affected by this bonus. In addition, the 3,400 last mile deliverers are also eligible, ”the group told AFP.

And this is in addition to “the various bonuses that were granted to front-line employees during the first months of the pandemic (bonus of 2 euros for each hour of work, double increase in overtime, additional break time, etc.) ". "This bonus is granted following the annual negotiations on wages which resulted in a collective agreement signed unanimously by the unions representing the company," according to the company statement.

Amazon shutdown on April 16

During the confinement, the company had been at the heart of a standoff with the unions and the justice system. On April 16, the group decided to close its six warehouses in France - by continuing deliveries from its platforms abroad and certain French sites not affected by the injunction - after court decisions requiring it to carry out an assessment. risks related to the coronavirus with employee representatives.

Justice pointed to security breaches, especially in the locker rooms or at the entrance gates and above all asked Amazon to consult staff representatives and not unilaterally impose measures. An agreement was finally reached with the trade unions CFDT, CGT, FO and SUD and activity resumed on May 19.
