Similar trials have been filed in five district courts nationwide including Sapporo, but this is the first time that the plaintiff has been interrogated.

In this case, the defendant's country demands that it dismiss the complaint, saying, "The constitution states that marriage is'established based on an agreement between both sexes', and marriages of the same sex are not envisioned."
