The new issue of "The Weekly Publisher" magazine covered issues related to the publishing and cultural exchange industry, highlighting cultural cooperation between Italy and the UAE, and strengthening partnership with the Emirate of Sharjah in book fairs, conferences and cultural festivals.

The magazine, which is issued by the Sharjah Book Authority, published investigations, polls, dialogues, articles, studies, reports, book reviews, as well as news about new publications. Among the magazine’s topics are a poll with Algerian writers, during the isolation imposed by the “Corona” pandemic, another on the future of paper and digital books, and an investigation of the “Captive Archive” that monitors numbers and names of Palestinian libraries looted by the Israeli occupation since 1948. The magazine published studies and articles About the writers: Carson McCallers, Emily Nothump, Julio Cortathar, Falah Rahim, Dirk Brak, two dialogues with the Spanish poet and researcher from the Basque Country, Shabbir Sospirigy, the poet, photographer and Colombian sociologist Anna Maria Bustamante. It also shed light on American literature that comes back to the fore after being ignored since the 1920s, and on the project of the Swiss "Audio Book" platform to issue an anthology from the poet Ibrahim Ibrahim's book, "Love is evil".

In the editorial of the issue, the head of the Sharjah Book Authority, the editor-in-chief, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al-Amri, wrote about the global cultural presence of the Emirate of Sharjah and its achievements. He said: “Institutions, bodies and cultural bodies in various cities of the world are keen to enhance cooperation with the Emirate of Sharjah, the global capital of the book, for the year 2019, which has become a true beacon of its cultural enlightenment project, which continues to be radiated by the vision of the author, the wise ruler, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and the patronage of His Highness, support and direction ».

For his part, the editor-in-chief, Ali Al-Amri, wrote in his "Raqeem" corner about one of the phenomena of book production in the West, which is to focus on the writer's strange biography, and present it to the book, regardless of his saying and his literary level.

Ahmed Al-Amri:

“Sharjah has become a beacon with its cultural enlightenment project, which continues to be radiated by the vision of the author, the wise ruler.”
