The conviction has fallen. French laboratories Sanofi have been indicted for "involuntary homicides" in the Dépakine affair, the company announced on Monday.

The number of children disabled because of sodium valproate, a molecule present in Depakine and used against epilepsy and bipolar disorders, is estimated between 15,000 and 30,000, according to studies.

When a pregnant woman takes this medicine, her child has a high risk - in the order of 10% - of birth defects, as well as an increased risk of autism and intellectual and / or walking delays, which can reach up to 40% of children exposed.
