• Luxury. The world's most envied confinement: 127 days in a Maldivian hotel
  • Holidays. The best summer hotel terraces in Spain

Books and books, tropical plants, sofas and armchairs everywhere. A space framed by two avant-garde white spiral staircases: cool minimalism with a classic Mediterranean villa touch. More than a hotel hall , the entrance to Seventy House looks like an open-plan living room, with seven-meter windows.

At all hours there is a relaxed hustle : young people working on their laptops, foreigners chatting on the sofas, people from Barcelona taking a break in the restaurant, professionals at business meetings, friends at a wine tasting ... Between the neighborhoods of Gràcia and the Eixample, the Seventy -of the Nuñez i Navarro group- already stands out as a new fashionable hotel, although it did not open even four months ago. The concept is that of a luxury guest house , with special care for the materials: oak woods, hydraulic mosaics, fine leather finishes, blued brass details ...

At Seventy House everything is designed from works of art, although with great subtlety: above the fireplace, as if it were a modern figurehead, hangs a large photograph of a ship, the work of Fernando Manso; on the other side, a painting between abstract and dreamlike by Simon Edmondson. These weeks a Balenciaga jacket, haute couture on loan from a collector, is on display. And then there will come a work by Oteiza .

INTERNATIONALLY HOME KITCHEN

In the lobby, the spaces are not separated by walls but by atmospheres. After crossing the hall-bookstore -an impressive library that is actually an artistic installation-, comes the bar counter. After cocktails, drinks or coffees, a warm restaurant unfolds also with the kitchen open. The chef Marc Mallasén has created a menu that emphasizes simplicity and the proximity product, without forgetting the international point. "Internationally homemade," says the chef. Grilled fish, gnocchi, croquettes or roast beef, always with off-the-menu dishes depending on the season and market day.

The restaurant with open kitchen

In the background, the Seventy's little secret is hidden , the one that gives it that Mediterranean DNA: the interior patio with olive, orange and a spring of water. The Patio promises to be this spring's place to be .

Carlos Ferrater and Xavier Martí of the OAB studio sign the modern architecture of this 152-room hotel , where they have sought maximum natural light through patios and windows. And the interior designers Luis Bustamante and Rosa Rosselló dress it inside with exquisite taste, like the ultramarine blue of the corridors that reminds people of the coast.

Love is in the Spa

Taking the elevator to floor -1 opens another world, aquatic and relaxing. The scented smell, the dim lighting, the subtle chill out soundtrack: it's time for the spa and the water circuit. A spa that differs from the others for being vegan. Here all the products are of non-animal origin, from the cosmetic firm Scens.

The top-floor outdoor pool.

In addition to a full menu of massages and facials, special packages are offered such as Love is in the Spa, which includes two glasses of cava in the Jacuzzi. When the heat hits, Seventy will open its jewel on the top floor: The Terrace , a pool and a solarium with sea views.
