Act 2 of the Ségur de la santé ended on Tuesday, with around thirty proposals to improve the French healthcare system and the working conditions of caregivers. The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced the creation of 4,000 additional beds at the hospital, the increase in the powers of doctors in the management of hospitals or measures to adapt the offer of care to the needs in the field. After the salary increase in the sector, the measures are rather well received by caregivers. On condition that they materialize quickly and that they are quickly effective, in particular with regard to additional beds, as requested for example by Mireille Stivala, who participated with the CGT in the negotiations of the Ségur de la Santé.

"The minister heard that the CGT trade unions strongly asked the question of the reopening of beds and the shared observation of a lack of beds. It is a good thing", first greeted the union representative at the microphone of Europe 1. "The question now is: 'What are we talking about? Are these resuscitation beds? Are these beds allocated to the whole sector? is a notion that must be explored, ”she continues.
100,000 hospital beds had been eliminated in 20 years
In detail, some 50 million euros per year will be released to finance the opening or reopening of 4,000 beds "on demand" in hospitals. This will make it possible to "adapt to seasonal or epidemic overactivity", underlined the Minister of Health Olivier Véran. In the space of 20 years, 100,000 beds had been eliminated in the 3,042 French hospitals and clinics.
"The plan seems insufficient to us anyway for the entire demand. But we note that the minister has in any case initiated a policy of opening beds, which is a request from the CGT," concludes Myriam Stimula.
