American publisher BOOM! Studios, which specializes in comics, said the actor and director Keanu Reeves will be co-author of the new limited series. The project is called BRZRKR - named after the protagonist.

Reeves personally develops storylines and character stories. In the announcement, published on the publisher’s website, the actor admitted that he had been fond of comics for a very long time, and now his dream came true to put his hand to their creation. “Since childhood I love comics, they had a huge impact on my work,” the artist emphasized.

In the center of the story is an immortal warrior named Berzerk. According to the idea of Reeves, he was born 80 thousand years ago with his mortal mother from the god of war.

“I had in my head the image of a guy who, century after century, fights because of his father’s addiction to violence, but at the same time gives the impression of a man who has fallen into a trap and is trying to get out of it,” the author describes the character.

Berzerk went through many armed conflicts. He had to hide and stage his own death.

As a result, as Keanu Reeves explained, the hero made a deal with the US authorities: he agreed to carry out the most dangerous missions that ordinary people can not handle. In return, they will provide him with information about his past, and possibly help to cope with the curse. From his father, the hero inherited an obsession with violence that borders on insanity.

Together with Keanu Reeves on the literary basis of the comic book, author Matt Kindt works. At the moment, while the actor is in Berlin and is preparing to resume filming "Matrix 4", they regularly call up.

“In the BRZRKR comic, we mixed a powerful cocktail of our favorite ingredients: this is a story about an immortal warrior, seasoned with historical facts, conspiracies, spiritual elements, as well as a huge amount of crazy action and violence - all this is done for a specific purpose and ultimately leads to a heartbreaking discovery, ”tells about the Kindt project.

The visual embodiment is the responsibility of the artist Alessandro Vitti, known for collaborating with Marvel and other publishers in the USA, Italy and France. He took the idea of collaboration optimistically and was not disappointed in the authors in the future. “This comic has everything that I love to draw. I can’t wait until he finally goes on sale so that we can share this with all of you! ”Said Vitti.

Also involved in the work on the comic are Rafael Grampa and Bill Crabtree. The first images are published on the studio website. Interestingly, the protagonist resembles Keanu Reeves himself.

The ability of the actor in a new field for him was also appreciated by the BOOM editor-in-chief! Studios Matt Gagnon. He noted that the reasons for the exceptional (and well-deserved) success of the actor can be understood from the first minutes of communication.

“Keanu has exceptional creative instincts, a deep understanding of the narrative, the ability to accurately feel the moment and convey the appropriate emotions and an unwavering desire to fulfill the task in a quality manner. Thanks to all this and much more, Keanu is a real source of inspiration, ”USA Today quotes Ganyon.

The publisher warns that the story is intended only for adults, as the plot involves many scenes of violence. The first release of the limited edition will be available in October 2020 in stores and on the website of the BOOM studio! Studios, both in print and digital versions. New comics will be released once a month. A total of 12 parts are planned.

Keanu Reeves has previously been involved in a comic book-related project. In 2005, the premiere of the film by Francis Lawrence, "Constantine: Lord of Darkness." It was based on the comic book series “John Constantine: The Messenger of Hell” by DC Comics.

In the full-length film adaptation, Reeves played the main character - exorcist John Constantine. Knowing that hell awaits him after death, John is trying to earn salvation. He gets involved in the investigation of suicide and helps to maintain a truce between the forces of good and evil.

In addition, last year, the head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feigi said that the studio representatives offered Keanu Reeves roles in almost all of their own projects, but so far the artist has not agreed to participate in any of the paintings. Feigi hopes Reeves will join the cinematic universe of Marvel when there is a suitable role for him.
