Several associations collecting hair to make wigs for patients receiving chemotherapy have recently recorded a large increase in donations. The leaders of these organizations believe that confinement to fight the coronavirus explains the phenomenon. "Before the epidemic, we received a hundred envelopes a day, and during the confinement until today this figure rose to more than 200," said a representative of Fake Hair Don't Care, quoted on Friday by the Huffington Post .

The trend is the same in the Belgian association Think Pink, which "noted an increase in hair donations up to an additional 50% compared to [its] annual campaign" Cut of radiance "".

In an envelope, then mailed

During the confinement, which lasted almost two months, the 85,000 hairdressing salons in France remained closed. Their clients therefore had to fend for themselves to maintain their hair style and some cut their hair themselves. Those who knew the principle of donating hair to help cancer patients only had to put their wicks in an envelope and mail it all.

That's 2 years of physical, emotional, and spiritual growth that I cut off right there on my bday, thanks to some “help” from my sis @riawna! Proud to be donating this hard work to @beyoutiful_foundation ❣️ and to everyone who came by today, sent food, flowers, videos, FaceTimes ... thank you so much. It's nice to feel grateful during times like these. This is # 39

Fake Hair Don't Care reminds in a press release that donated hair must be in good health and measure at least 10 centimeters. Long hair should be cut in half and tied with rubber bands before cutting. A donation form must be completed and enclosed with the shipment. Among the celebrities who have chosen this gesture of solidarity, we find the Elysée chef Guillaume Gomez or the American actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
