China News Service, July 17 (Xindao Daily) reported on the website of Hong Kong's "Sing Tao Daily" on the 16th that a wartime bomb was found in an unstable construction site in Kai Tak, Hong Kong. The police dismantled it overnight, during which more than 2,300 people were evacuated. At present, the first-phase train service of the MTR Tunma Line has returned to normal, and residents evacuated nearby are allowed to return to their homes.

  The personnel of the Hong Kong Police Explosives Disposal Division began processing at 11:50 on the evening of the 16th, cutting the bomb at low temperature, and successfully removed the bomb at 5 a.m. on the 17th.

  The police allege that the bomb was about 1 meter long and weighed about 100 pounds. It was made in the United States and believed to be airdropped by the US military during World War II. A total of more than 2,300 people were evacuated during the bomb removal operation, including site workers, staff and residents of Kai Tak Station of MTR and residents affected by Kai Tak No.1.

  In order to reduce the lethality of the explosion, the arms expert detonated twice, detonating at 4:07 in the morning, destroying some of the explosive in the bomb first, and then detonating for the second time at 5:22 in the morning. During the detonation, multiple explosions were heard at the scene.

  Senior Superintendent Ma Weide, Senior Explosives Disposal Officer of the Explosives Disposal Division, explained that because the bomb had been severely damaged and was in a dangerous and unstable state, it could not be safely removed from the construction site for dismantlement, and required on-site disposal.
