Liu Xiaoming introduced the relevant situation of the "Law on the Maintenance of National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China" at the Chinese and foreign press conference held at the Chinese Embassy in the UK on that day, and answered questions from reporters. Nearly 50 journalists from 33 Chinese and foreign media attended the press conference.

Liu Xiaoming pointed out that after the adoption of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the British media made a lot of reports and comments. But it is full of misreading, misunderstanding and even distortion.

In response to previous British media reports and comments, "Why should the Hong Kong National Security Law be introduced? Does the Hong Kong National Security Law violate'One Country, Two Systems'? Does the Hong Kong National Security Law violate Hong Kong's high degree of autonomy and the freedom of Hong Kong residents' rights? Does the Hong Kong National Security Law violate China's international obligations? Who is violating international obligations and trampling on international relations norms?" Liu Xiaoming answered the five questions.

Liu Xiaoming said in the opening remarks that the implementation of Hong Kong’s National Security Law provides a strong support for the stability of “One Country, Two Systems” and a solid guarantee for the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong residents. It is an important milestone in the “One Country, Two Systems” practice process and has a significant Realistic significance and far-reaching historical significance.

Liu Xiaoming stated that Hong Kong is China’s Hong Kong, Hong Kong affairs are China’s internal affairs, and no foreign country has the right to interfere. No one should underestimate China’s firm determination to defend the interests of national sovereignty and security development. Any attempt to interfere with and obstruct the implementation of Hong Kong’s National Security Law will be met with firm opposition from the 1.4 billion Chinese people and will be doomed to failure.

Liu Xiaoming also answered 15 reporters' questions on Sino-British relations, the British government's adjustment of Hong Kong British National (Overseas) Passport (BNO) holders' visit arrangements in the UK, and the Chinese response. (Finish)
