China News Service, Toronto, July 3rd, Title: Chinese Canadians of Hong Kong: Hong Kong's National Security Law Brings Brightness and Expects to Strengthen National Education

China News Agency reporter Yu Ruidong

In an interview with a reporter from China News Service, two Hong Kong Chinese community members who have lived in Canada for approximately 40 years and lived in Vancouver and Toronto, respectively, expressed support for the promulgation and implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and expressed confidence in Hong Kong's development prospects.

  "One country" is fundamental

Canadian Hong Kong people are concerned about the founding chairman of the Hong Kong Situation Association, Xie Boheng, who was born, raised and studied in Hong Kong. He returned to Hong Kong every year and witnessed the chaos in Hong Kong since last year, and felt "very heartache" for it.

He said that the mob did not take the so-called democratic and free approach at all, and that protests and demonstrations in Canada would not allow similar rampant violence. He believes that the recent turmoil in Hong Kong is precisely because of the disaster that the British planted.

Xie Boheng said that it is believed that most of the overseas Chinese who live in Canada support Hong Kong's national security legislation. In May this year, the Hong Kong People's Concern Association of Canada and the Chinese Association of Vancouver and the Overseas Chinese Mission issued a joint statement in support of the National Security Law of the National People's Congress of China. The move was supported by more than 360 Chinese groups in Canada, including many overseas Chinese groups with considerable scale and influence.

He hoped that this statement would allow the mainstream society to understand the significance of this legislation to Hong Kong and the supportive attitude of various Chinese overseas Chinese groups.

Xie Boheng said that the implementation of Hong Kong's National Security Law has made people's confidence in the prospect of "one country, two systems" "absolutely increase." Only with perfect laws can we stabilize and prosper. This legislation provides a better guarantee for "one country, two systems". "One country" is fundamental, and "two systems" should be based on the principle of not damaging national interests. National security legislation is absolutely necessary. Countries around the world, including Canada, will not accept acts that undermine national security.

As for the freedom rights of Hong Kong people after legislation, Xie Boheng is not worried. Because the anti-legislators do not want Hong Kong to be prosperous and stable, the purpose is to undermine Hong Kong’s development.

 Legislation brings clarity

"Hong Kong's National Security Law should be introduced sooner, then there will not be so many thugs messing up Hong Kong." Toronto Canada Hong Kong Association founding chairman Liang Wanbang said.

He said that it is very important that Hong Kong’s national security laws make the situation clearer quickly. "Hong Kong will always be a part of China, and no one can deny it. In China's territory, there is a clearer direction for what needs to be done and what should not be done." Liang Wanbang said by example, people who are in business will know better , How to face the market and conduct international exchanges in the future.

He believes that overall, Hong Kong’s financial and monetary system and its role as an important international trading port will not change, and it still has its unique participation in global economic affairs.

However, he said that he did not believe that liberal democracy could be solely imported, but that it should be “native” by combining reality.

Liang Wanbang believes that there is no precedent for "one country, two systems" nor "designated actions". This legislation will give everyone a deeper and more understanding and understanding of "one country, two systems".

He said that after legislation, the next step will depend on law enforcement. I believe that at that time, people will see more clearly that Hong Kong’s National Security Law is aimed at those who want to destroy Hong Kong.

Regarding the so-called "sanctions" by the United States, Liang Wanbang believes that Americans have a lot of business in Hong Kong and must use Hong Kong to radiate the surrounding areas. The so-called "sanctions" of Hong Kong will inevitably not become "sanctions". To seek global economic prosperity and development, including Hong Kong, I believe no one will inflict damage unless it is for political purposes.

Looking forward to the future work of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Xie Boheng believes that Hong Kong's education has exposed problems and some young students have been misled. National education should be improved and strengthened to make up for the shortcomings. Hong Kong people, especially young people, should really understand that Hong Kong is an inalienable territory of China.

Liang Wanbang suggested that Hong Kong should make good use of the supporting policies given by the central government, make long-term plans, take good care of the interests of people's livelihood, and pay attention to the correct resources in the fields of law, education, and media. (Finish)
