Request for provisional deployment of Osprey Mayor around Narashino Exercise Area Request form Chiba, July 2, 6:31

Request that the mayor around the Narashino exercise area, which is expected to fly, to explain training and operation beforehand in response to the provisional deployment of the Ground Self-Defense Forces transport aircraft Osprey at the Kisarazu garrison in Chiba Prefecture. We sent the call to Minister of Defense Kono.

The Ministry of Defense plans to deploy the Ground Self-Defense Forces transport aircraft Osprey at Saga Airport, but due to lack of discussions with the local community, it is tentatively deploying it at the Kisarazu Garrison in Chiba Prefecture.

The first two aircraft shipped from the United States were unloaded at Iwakuni US military base this May and are expected to be deployed at Kisarazu Garrison this month.

Under such circumstances, the mayors of Funabashi City, Yachiyo City, and Narashino City around the Narashino Exercise Area, where Osprey is expected to arrive, sent a request form to the Minister of Defense Kono jointly on the 30th of last month.

The request form states that "it is the responsibility to obtain the information necessary for the safety and security of citizens and dispel the anxiety", and in advance, the content of training, the way of operation, the safety of the aircraft and the living environment. We strongly request that they fully explain the impact on the company.

The Funabashi City Crisis Management Division says, "I don't know what kind of impact it will have on the local community at this point, so I'd like to ask for an explanation when the outline of the flight has been decided."
