In March of this year, Guangzhou Nansha police received a report from Ms. Wang that she was defrauded by 675,000 yuan by a man who claimed to be a "United Nations peacekeeper in Syria." The police further learned that the man added Ms. Wang as a friend through a WeChat group, and chatted with Ms. Wang as "Medicine of the UN Peacekeeping Forces in Syria".

According to police, during the usual chat, the man sent work photos to Ms. Wang from time to time. After gaining Ms. Wang's trust, she asked Ms. Wang to send an email to the "United Nations Peacekeeping Force Chief" on the grounds that she intended to leave the "United Nations Peacekeeping Force". After Ms. Wang sent mail on her behalf, the man asked Ms. Wang to transfer the money to the bank card she provided on the grounds of finding an alternative doctor, having no transportation, needing to rent an airplane, and being detained at the airport. Ms. Wang successively transferred a total of 8 transactions to the other party, with a total of 675,000 yuan. Ms. Wang realized that she was cheated when the man continued to request a transfer on the ground that the plane was detained on the way to refueling in South Korea.

After more than a month of investigation, the police locked five persons (Li, male, 34 years old) and Chen (male, 48 years old) and five others suspected of major crimes, and analyzed the whereabouts of the persons involved and the flow direction of the funds involved. After that, the police launched a unified net-collecting operation in Dongguan, Shanwei, and Guangzhou, and arrested 5 criminal suspects including Li Mou.

According to the police, the gang pretended to be a "United Nations peacekeeper military doctor in Syria", reached out to the victim with a common religious belief, and relied on the emotions among the "breachers" to gradually gain trust, and then began to step by step "routine" the victim. In similar cases ganged up by the police, the gang will also pretend to be an "American soldier", establish feelings with the target victim, and then achieve the purpose of defrauding money.

At present, the suspect Limou and others have been arrested in accordance with the law on suspicion of fraud and the case is still under investigation. (Finish)
