The publisher Belén Bermejo (Madrid, 1969) has died in Madrid due to the cancer that she suffered for three years, her editorial, Espasa, has confirmed to Efe.

Hispanic philologist raised in Aranda del Duero, Bermejo was dedicated to the edition of fiction and poetry in Spain and had published in 2019 a book in which she mixed her facet as writer and photographer, "Microgeografía de Madrid", whose benefits she destined, like her she told the Oncology service of the La Princesa hospital, which she defined as "almost my home".

Much loved in the publishing and cultural sector, she defended reading to the end - "buy in bookstores", she wrote on her Twitter account a little over a week ago - and defined herself as "feminist".

In an interview with Efe in 2019, he expressed his rejection of the distinction between men's and women's literature : "There is good literature and bad literature." And she regretted that women were in the majority in the publishing sector and also read more than men, but both management positions and literary awards were mostly male.

In the networks, publishers such as Espasa and Planeta, bookstores, writers -of whom he worked as an editor-, musicians and cultural journalists have said goodbye to them.

"Shattered by the sad news, our dear friend and colleague @BelenBermejo has died. We will miss her very much, a hug for her whole family," said the Espasa publishing house, where she worked.
