Early summer is a season for wild birds to raise children. I took a picture of the fledgling of the national natural monument, the bear pea, in the forest in Sapporo.

Kumagera is the largest woodpecker in Japan that lives in parts of Hokkaido and Honshu, and is about 45 cm long.

During this time, the high-pitched voices of the bear-gella parents and their children echo in the forest, and the parents carry food to the chicks in the nest.

It's finally time to leave. Parent birds encourage drumming by tapping the tree with their beak. The chick grasps the edge of the nest firmly with both feet and leans forward to observe the surroundings.

About 20 minutes to get lost. The chick, who decided, disappeared into the forest while rising gently. The first flight of my life was a success.
