Guest of Europe 1, Tuesday, Camille Combal spoke about her career, from Virgin to TF1, but also her origins. Starting with his first name, which he does not like and which, moreover, is not the one his parents agreed to before his birth.

"A pancake bore my name! My brother's name is Clément, so there was 'Jolie Clément', and 'Gentille Camille'". Originally from Gap, Camille Combal, whose parents were restaurateurs in the mountains, spoke on Europe 1 on Tuesday of the story of her first name. A story which, "until the last second", should have been that of "Karl".

"I was to be called Karl"

Camille Combal confesses: he does not like his first name. "I wanted to change, I was really not good". From the Latin "camillus", this first name designated the boys (or girls) assisting the priests during religious ceremonies and sacrifices.

Common for girls but rare for boys, the first name pleased her mother, but not her father. Besides, it was agreed, until his birth, that Camille Combal is called Karl Combal. "I had to be called Karl until the last second," he laughs. "But my father did not like this first name so much that he chose the second: he went to the prefecture and put Camille."

An anecdote which, between the announcement of his departure from Virgin and the return to his beginnings at TF1 had to be told. Among the foals of TF1, Camille Combal, who notably hosts Dance with the stars , Who wants to earn millions? or even Mask Singer , is however now most often called by his nickname, "Cams".
