The shock wave caused by the death of George Floyd in the United States continued to spread throughout the last weekend in France where more than 23,000 protesters, according to the Interior Ministry, denounced the police violence and demanded "justice for all". Beyond the demonstrations calling into question the integrity of the police officers, several cases came to tarnish the reputation of the institution and its officials.

After revelations from independent  Street Press websitepointing to the existence of an openly racist and misogynistic Facebook group bringing together 8,000 police and gendarmes, the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner brought the matter to justice and the Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation. A few days earlier, the director general of the national police had confirmed that police officers from Rouen would be sent to disciplinary council for racist comments on a WhatsApp group. For its part, the Elysee Palace announced on Monday that Emmanuel Macron asked the government to "speed up" its proposals to improve the ethics of the police, in the face of the multiplication of demonstrations against racism and police violence .
