New Corona Antigen Test Kit Increased Production Manufacturers and Major Companies Collaborate 13:51, June 5
Fujirebio, which produces test kits for "antigen test" that can detect infection with the new coronavirus in a short time, decided to increase production of test kits in cooperation with Toshiba and Hitachi.
The "antigen test" is a simple test that can check for infection with the new coronavirus in about 30 minutes. Although less accurate than the "PCR test", it is said to lead to faster tests and medical treatment.
Fuji Rebio, a manufacturer of test reagents for this antigen test, is currently producing 200,000 kits a week, but plans to expand to more than 400,000 kits by the end of the year.
For early production increase, we will set up a production line at a factory of a Toshiba group company in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, and receive Toshiba's support in securing personnel for production and maintenance and inspection of equipment.
Also, Hitachi will provide consulting to build and operate an efficient production line.
In response to the spread of new coronavirus infections, major companies such as automobiles and electric appliances are promoting support for the production of medical devices and other equipment across industry boundaries.
