  Freimo said that a total of 56 films were shortlisted for this year's Cannes Film Festival official selection. These films were selected from 2067 registered films. This is the first time that the number of registered films in the history of the festival exceeds 2000. He said that this year there were many shortlisted works by new filmmakers. In addition, a total of 16 female directors were shortlisted, a higher number than in previous years.
