  • It thus intends to secure between 50,000 and 100,000 local jobs.

Regional preference, preservation or creation of 50,000 to 100,000 jobs, start of construction sites…: the president of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Laurent Wauquiez, presented on Thursday a recovery plan estimated at one billion euros to deal with the crisis economic linked to Covid-19.

"The health crisis has shown the adaptability of our businesses and the need to preserve a strong local economic fabric to preserve our industrial and health sovereignty," he said, declining an economic recovery plan "of a billion euros ”and“ 3 to 4 billion in the next three years ”.

Mobilize all communities and revive the construction industry

"We must decree a general mobilization, in connection with all the local communities and in partnership with the private sector", insisted the president LR of the regional council, during a press conference. This investment and recovery plan must be implemented "right away", with the objective "of securing 50,000 to 100,000 local jobs", he added.

In particular, “major structuring works” will be launched (campus projects in Grenoble, internship in Clermont-Ferrand, deployment of fiber, road and rail projects, etc.) to revive the construction industry, in partnership with the State.

The region will also finance 50% of the work undertaken by the municipalities and local communities to get construction sites out of the ground in 2021. Overall, "the objective is to generate 500 million works thanks to the aid from the region", underlined Laurent Wauquiez. Support will also be provided "to companies that trusted us during the health crisis" and made masks or glasses.

Green deal

With, at the same time, the ambition to “make Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes the first region in Europe in terms of protective equipment” and to consolidate the pharmaceutical and health sectors with support of 100 millions of euros.

Laurent Wauquiez also wants to make Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes "the first green region of France" with a "Green Deal" including energy production, mobility, recycling and waste management.

Finally, "we must design now, with Pôle emploi, a training plan of nearly 500 million euros over two years, including 150 million contributed by the region" to fight unemployment, he said. Finally, it also plans a campaign to promote regional tourism and another to relocate the headquarters of large groups in the region, rather than in Paris.
