The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, visits the restaurants of Nice. - City of Nice

After two months of confinement linked to the coronavirus health crisis, the restaurants can reopen since Tuesday. In Nice, the sector suffered a heavy loss: more than 90% of turnover according to professionals.

This Wednesday, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, went to meet the restaurateurs. He took the opportunity to announce his decision to encourage traders to extend their terraces "when possible". They will be able to benefit from the help of the city which works, in coordination with the road inspectors, so that these extensions are possible until September 30th.

Terraces for everyone

Restaurateurs who could not have a terrace, because of their location, are encouraged to organize evening entertainment. In this sense, the city could temporarily close the traffic lanes, issue orders and lend equipment (chairs and tables) to professionals who need them.

The idea would be to create ephemeral terraces on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday evenings until September 15.
