He was one of the most wanted fugitives in the world. Félicien Kabuga, the alleged “financier” of the genocide of the Tutsis in Rwanda was arrested on May 16, 2020 near Paris, after more than twenty years on the run. Twenty years of flight during which he would have changed his identity dozens of times, and found refuge in several countries between Africa and Europe.

Publicity

Today, it is in France that justice must rule on its transfer to the Mechanism for international courts, which took over from the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. He should then be tried in Arusha, Tanzania. But in Rwanda, the remains of the former businessman's fortune are still visible and the wounds of the victims of the genocide still alive.

"Rwanda, in the footsteps of Félicien Kabuga" is a great report by Laure Broulard.
