Céline Dion during the concert "One World Together At Home" - ALLILI MOURAD / SIPA

They accompanied our confinement on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube thanks to their new compositions and their improvised concerts by interposed screens. David Guetta from Miami, Sting live from his home, and even dozens of personalities gathered in the mega show of Lady Gaga, the artists took their camera for almost two months to pass the time to the confined, and so that everyone finds communion, of which only concerts have the secret.

To make up for the shortfall caused by the closure of performance halls, the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers (better known as Sacem) will set up a system of “exceptional remuneration for copyright especially adapted to the distribution of livestreams ", we learn byFrance Inter. Usually, the artists' different songs are recognized automatically thanks to agreements made with Google and Facebook. Small flat: this method does not apply to live music. From June 1, Sacem members must therefore declare themselves the lives they have undertaken since March 15.

One view = 0.001 euro

Two criteria must be taken into account in the calculation of artists' remuneration: the duration of the live and its number of views. "On the one hand, we take tariffs that correspond to those of a free concert in a small room, and we add a notion of Web exploitation, where we use the number of views," explains Cécile Rap- Veber, director of licenses, international and Sacem operations, to our colleagues.

Basically, the minimum amount allocated is 10 euros for a piece, 46.35 euros for a duration of less than 20 minutes and 76 euros for any live of more than 20 minutes. To this is added an amount linked to the number of views, where each click is worth 0.001 euro. "For example, if you interpreted a livestream lasting 15 minutes viewed 10,000 times, you will receive € 46.35 as a minimum amount and € 10 (10,000 x 0.001) in additional remuneration, or € 56.35 in total" specifies the Sacem press release. This payment will take place in January 2021.
