The Drive-in festival, a traveling event which must also pass through Marseille and the Hauts-de-France, also began on Saturday evening in Bordeaux - UGO AMEZ / SIPA

It is ET the extraterrestrial , the Spielberg classic, which will open the session. But two previews will also be on display. As of Wednesday evening, a "cinema drive", an ephemeral cinema accessible by spectators installed in their car, will be installed in the parking lot of the Palm Beach, east of Cannes, announced the town hall. Five evenings of screenings are planned, at 9:30 p.m., until Sunday, May 24.

The Ciné drive arrives on the Croisette. From May 20 to 24, when @villecannes should have had its @Festival_Cannes, a session will be organized every evening in the Palm Beach car park. Tickets will be € 6.5 for each occupant of each car #Deconfinement pic.twitter.com/RWw4VhPbdw

The initiative, which echoes the launch, Saturday in Bordeaux, of the Drive-in festival, makes the Federation of Cinemas cringe. "The FNCF deeply regrets the media and economic damage caused by these demonstrations which divert spectators, the media, the local and national administration from the only fight to be waged: the reopening of theaters," she said.

With the cinemas of the city

In Cannes, the system is nevertheless coordinated with the operators of the city's cinemas, ensures the town hall. It also obtained "the support of Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Festival", which should have been held until May 23. Besides, The Carnival of the animals - Aquarium , the composition of Camille Saint-Saëns which precedes the screenings of the films in selection, will open “symbolically” each screening.

After ET (Tuesday therefore), L'Appel de la forêt (Thursday), La Daronne (Friday), Le voyage du Dr Dolittle (Saturday) and  Singing Club (Sunday) are scheduled. Ticketing is done only before screenings and only online. The rate is 6.50 per euro person in each vehicle.
