The current health crisis and the colossal economic damage that will ensue have warmed some minds, already very upbeat before the appearance of the coronavirus. This Saturday in Lyon, several collectives and associations, including "yellow vests", are calling for a rally in Place Maréchal Lyautey, in the 6 arrondissement of Lyon, called the "deconfinement of struggles".

By this call, relayed on social networks, the organizers invite the public to take to the streets "to ask for explanations" from the government. “They wanted to confine our anger, play with our lives, prioritize their profits. For them, the damage to public services and the health system was not their fault! The lack of masks and staff was not their fault! Their late reaction was not their fault! And what was their response? You will have to work more, get paid less, sacrifice yourself, but certainly not them in their ivory tower! ", Detail the collectives, who have not missed any news in recent weeks. And have lost nothing of their anger.

The prefect bans rallies on Saturday May 16 in downtown #Lyon. Barrier gestures cannot be respected in the context of #manifestations.

The prefect calls for a sense of responsibility

"Let's take to the streets to ask for explanations on the maintenance of municipal elections despite the epidemic, the 49-3 during a major health crisis, the increase in working time beyond 35 hours and on Sunday, the putting hospital staff on the front line without adequate equipment to care for patients, as well as cashiers, garbage collectors, delivery people, security guards, etc. ”, they stress.

In this first weekend of progressive deconfinement, and faced with the threat of the coronavirus, the collectives call for a meeting in compliance with health rules, with wearing a mask and necessary physical distance. A reminder, however, that was not enough to reassure the local authorities. Following this call to the rally, the prefect of the Rhône indeed took this Friday a decree prohibiting any demonstration on Saturday in the Presqu'Ile.

"Without any legal framework, this call for assembly goes against government health recommendations and health authorities, which enjoin strict compliance with barrier gestures, emphasize this Friday the services of the prefect. In addition, businesses, and more generally the business world, are struggling to resume the rhythm of their activity. This call would create additional difficulties for a sector which needs solidarity and the support of the whole of society to recover from the Covid-19 crisis ”.

On the perimeter concerned, processions, rallies and parades will be prohibited and sanctioned, adds the prefecture, which calls for a sense of responsibility and good citizenship.
