The painting is located in a corridor near the emergency room and depicts a boy sitting on his knees and playing with a doll depicting a nurse with mouth guard and mantle. Next to the boy is a trash can where a Batman doll and a Spider man doll are forgotten.
Unlike many other mysterious Banksy's works, this painting is set up in consultation with the hospital management.
"The fact that Banksy has chosen us to show how much care staff contributes to society in an unusual time is an incredible honor," says Paula Head, who is responsible for the support organization NHS Foundation Trust at Southampton Hospital.
Banksy began his career in the early 1990s and over time has become a world name for his satirical works with an emphasis on politics, ethics and culture. Banksy's identity has never been revealed.
