Fukui Oi Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 Postponing the start of regular inspection work New Corona May 1 21:15

Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. has decided to delay the start of regular inspection work for Unit 3 of the Ohi Nuclear Power Station in Fukui Prefecture by two to three months to prevent infection with the new coronavirus.

Workers from all over the country gather for regular inspections of nuclear power plants, which are scheduled to be carried out approximately once a year.

It is expected that around 900 workers from outside the prefecture will gather for inspection from the Oii Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 in Fukui Prefecture from the 8th of this month. Workers were asking Kansai Electric Power to wait for two weeks at home.

Regarding this, the director of the Oi Nuclear Power Plant, Mr. Issei Bunno, visited the local town of Oi in Fukui Prefecture on the 1st and announced that he would delay the start of regular inspection work by 2 to 3 months.

The reason is to prevent the spread of infection.

Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. will decide the start time of the periodic inspection after coordinating with the contractors who undertake the work.
